Summer 2026 Championship Recap
HTX Families,
What a championship season for HTX Swims! From B & Under Championships through Southern Zones, our swimmers delivered championship wins, major time drops, new qualifying cuts, team records and outstanding team finishes.
Southern Zone Senior Championships
The HTX men finished 5th overall with 575 points.
Arthur Newton: Won the 200 freestyle in 1:54.03, placed 2nd in the 100 freestyle in 50.97, 3rd in the 100 backstroke and 6th in the 50 freestyle.
Alex Mayer: Placed 7th in the 200 backstroke, 10th in the 200 freestyle and 15th in the 100 freestyle.
Auggie Kimmel: Placed 7th in the 800 freestyle, 9th in the 400 freestyle and 14th in the 200 backstroke.
HTX Relays: Finished 3rd in the 400 freestyle relay and 200 medley relay, with the medley relay earning a Junior Nationals standard.
Sophia Chen: Representing the HTX Women and getting the team on the combined scoreboard with her swims
New Sectionals Cuts
Southern Zones produced eight new or improved Texas Sectionals-level swims:
Alex Mayer: 100 free, 200 free and 200 back
Evan Halastaras: 50 free, 100 free and 100 fly
Auggie Kimmel: 400 free and 800 free
Auggie made the 800 freestyle cut by just 0.54 seconds.
Texas Age Group Championships
Aiden Mayer and Sam Atha represented HTX at TAGS.
Aiden Mayer: Placed 4th in the 50 and 100 freestyle, 7th in the 200 freestyle, 8th in the 400 freestyle and 9th in the 100 backstroke.
Sam Atha: Placed 9th in the 1500 freestyle and 10th in the 800 freestyle.
Gulf Age Group Championships
Sam Atha: Placed 4th in the 1500 freestyle and 8th in the 400 freestyle.
Aiden Mayer: Reached the championship final in the 100 backstroke.
Sophia Chen, Sophia Riley, Bea Layne and Georgia Mazzu: Represented HTX across multiple events and gained valuable championship experience.
Gulf Senior Championships
Arthur Newton earned a Futures standard in the 100 freestyle with a 53.01. Alex Mayer, Auggie Kimmel, Evan Halastaras, Kieran Vasan, Isaac Mayer, Dominic Yip, Zayden Bach and Max Fertman added numerous finals appearances and qualifying-standard swims.
The meet helped prepare the group for HTX’s historic fifth-place finish at Southern Zones.
Gulf Summer Championships
HTX finished 8th overall with 674 points, while the women placed 6th.
Anneliese Zucker: Won the 50 breaststroke, placed 2nd in the 100 and 200 breaststroke, and finished 5th in the 200 IM.
Abigail Kho: Won the 50 butterfly and placed 4th in the 50 backstroke.
Isa Fertman: Placed 3rd in the 50 backstroke and 4th in the 50 freestyle.
Luke Hubbard: Placed 4th in the 800 freestyle, 5th in the 200 freestyle and 6th in the 400 freestyle.
HTX Relays: Earned one silver and two bronze medals.
Gulf B & Under Championships
HTX finished 6th overall with 186 points.
Genevieve Collett: Won five events—the 100 IM, 100 freestyle, 50 backstroke, 50 breaststroke and 200 IM.
Carlisle Collett: Won the 50 freestyle, 50 breaststroke and 200 IM.
Logan Perry: Won the 50 butterfly and 50 backstroke and placed 2nd in the 100 IM.
Our youngest swimmers also recorded numerous personal bests while gaining valuable championship experience.
HTX Team Records Update
This season produced another major milestone: multiple new HTX Long Course Team Records were set across several age groups and events.
